Douglas Mortenson, CPA
Doug began his foray into finance and accounting as a tour accountant for nationally recognized rock bands, assembling timely and meaningful management reports via scraps of paper and taxi cab receipts. He added to his professional acumen working for a local CPA firm, preparing returns for individuals and corporations varying in complexity from simple single W2 returns, to nuanced oil and gas transactions, and assisting management with research and process improvement. Over the years, Doug continued to develop his skills and knowledge of accounting and finance, most recently serving as CFO of a $20 million international commodity brokerage firm. Doug secured his Masters degree and passed all four parts of the CPA exam on the first attempt while working full-time and developing unparalleled improvements in management reporting.
In 2017, Doug started Mortenson Accounting as a side project. Over the past few years, he has worked with individual clients, small businesses, and corporations to provide top notch tax preparation services and financial guidance, saving individuals and companies tens of thousands of dollars. In 2019, Doug decided to follow his passion and make Mortenson Accounting his full time role. He enjoys working with clients locally, throughout the US, and internationally, and using his accumulated knowledge to provide meaningful and executable tax and financial strategy, while ultimately providing his clients with constructive, additive value.
